Do you have an interest in the law? Are you an attorney or law student, or just someone trying to navigate an increasingly-complex legal system?
Do you want more information about the reasoning behind the laws, how courts work, policing, court opinions, legal rulings, and public policy?
Law Talk with Bill Powers is your resource for answers to your legal questions.
Attorney Bill Powers discusses these and other issues, and he is joined by an impressive cast of legal minds. We talk about complex legal issues and legislation that affects the NC courts, practice tips, and Legal FAQs.
Your legal podcast host, Bill Powers, is the former President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, an NBLSC National Board of Legal Specialty Certification / NBTA National Board of Trial Advocacy board certified criminal law specialist, and respected courtroom attorney.
For more information on the qualifications as an NBTA specialist, check out: http://www.nbtalawyers.org/

Law talk is just that: Talking about the law.
As the former President of NCAJ (2016-2017), many lawyers in North Carolina either know Bill personally, have read his NC Advocates for Justice President’s Column, watched him in trial, pick a jury, argue a motion, or heard him lecture at a Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for lawyers and judges.
Bill Powers has been active in the refinement of NC criminal laws / NC DWI laws, a legal advocate, and public policy wonk on North Carolina law and NC legal issues, for more than 25 years.
“I love what I do. I’m a courtroom lawyer. I don’t limit myself to a particular practice area or group. I once heard a wise old sage comment, ‘Good lawyers can argue either side of the case. They never stop learning and growing. This thing we call the Practice of Law, done right, is a lifelong commitment to helping others and society as a whole.’” - Bill Powers, Charlotte Lawyer
With that network of professional friends, legal colleagues, and NC lawyers, Bill has the ability to draw upon a wide selection of guests, including some of the most widely respected attorneys in North Carolina.
Bill’s guest list is predicated on three factors: Who do I respect as an attorney or legal professional? Who is interesting and has an engaging personality? Who would I like to learn more about, hear their impressions of our legal system, and bring a thoughtful discourse about NC laws, NC lawyers, and the NC Courts?
The legal issues we discuss go from satellite view, big-picture policy perspectives on our courts and legal processes, all the way to granular analysis of extremely complicated legal issues and practice tips for NC lawyers and other legal professionals.
We encourage listeners to email questions directly to NC lawyer Bill Powers at Bill@342HELP.COM. Please understand that each case, just like each individual person, is different. If you have a specific question, we recommend you consult privately with an experienced NC attorney.
